In photographing his previous two books on Dean, Chris Morris has only touched on a most important aspect of the Forest – the trees themselves. Dean’s Big Oaks celebrates the biggest and oldest trees of what are arguably the best oak woods in the country, in all seasons, as well as including many other species. Additionally the final chapter takes a look at those enjoying and working in the woods, from schoolchildren to foresters, as well as the ongoing use of the timber featuring local craftsmen and furniture makers. |
